Anesthesia Practice Innovations (API) is a consulting service and practice management organization founded by two nationally recognized leaders in anesthesia with over 70 combined years of successful experience in the arena.

API identifies and solves the financial, technical, operational and strategic challenges that anesthesia practices, hospitals, surgery centers and health care systems face.

Leadership

Daniel S. Reale

Dan is a Managing Member of API.
Prior to API, Dan served as President of Plexus Management Group, LLC a leading practice management firm in the anesthesia space since 2017. He served as Executive Vice President of Plexus since 2005.  His responsibilities included overseeing the expansion of managed physician practices.  Mr. Reale has 25+ years of experience managing healthcare services and biomedical operations.  Previous experience includes a public, biomedical company that develops medical devices for urological and oncological applications, a biotech company responsible for the development and opening of manufacturing operations for an autologous colon cancer vaccine and a venture-based company outsourcing hospital blood-banking and blood collection services to hospitals throughout the United States.  His education includes both a Juris Doctor degree from Northeastern University, Boston, MA; as well as a Master of Business Administration degree from  the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Robert D. McIvor

Bob is a Managing Member of API.
Mr. McIvor formerly served as the Founder, President and CEO of Plexus Management Group, Inc., (PMG) from 1999 to 2017 when he facilitated the sale of PMG to Miramed Global Services, Inc.  He jointly served as the Chief Operating Officer of Anaesthesia Associates of Massachusetts, PC (AAM), a position he held from 1998 to 2017.  Under Bob’s direction, AAM grew to be one of the largest private practice anesthesia groups in the country, employing over 200 anesthesia providers to more than 20 hospitals and surgery centers in New England.  PMG provided management services to more than 45 anesthesia practices nationally, employing over 1,000 physicians and $300MM in revenue under management.  PMG staff grew from 12 associates to over 200 associates over that period.
Mr. McIvor’s experience is in operational efficiencies/turnaround and revenue maximization.  Under his guidance, AAM revenues grew over 500% and PMG revenues under management grew over 1000%.  A key component of PMG business was advising hospital clients, surgeons and anesthesia groups on best operational practices in the perioperative environment.
